Maria Emma Corina Tenorio, 90 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Maria was born Dec. 29, 1933 in El Porvenir, NM to Demetrio Carrillo and Maria Hurtado. She was later raised in Tecolotito, NM. On January 16, 1950, she married Gilberto Tenorio. Maria and Gilberto ranched in San Miguel and Guadalupe County for many years. Later they moved to Borica, NM before buying their home and moving to Santa Rosa, NM. Maria and Gilberto were self-employed and sold flagstone for a number of years. She did lots of the physical work alongside her husband, whether it was digging and picking up the large pieces of flagstone or driving the heavy duty work trucks transporting the flagstone to Santa Fe or Albuquerque and the surrounding areas. She also worked at different motels and worked for home healthcare helping our elderly in our community. She took great pride in all of her work, and made a lot of friends along the way that she considered family. She made an impact on anyone she came in contact with and she truly loved those that she met.
For those of you who knew her, you know that she never had any complaints. Her Faith in Jehovah God is what always kept her strong and keeps her family strong.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gilberto, her son Lee Tenorio, her granddaughter Yvonne Gallegos, brothers Delfido Carrillo (Mary), Johnny Carrillo (Pita), Eppie Carrillo, Ermerlindo Carrillo, and sisters Manuelita Castillo (Dionicio), Lupe Montano (Manuel), Carmen Gonzales (Teodoro). Brothers-in-law Jose Tenorio (Rita), Abran Tenorio (Dora), Juan Tenorio (Luisa), sisters-in-law Rosa Sanchez (Luis), Condrada Saiz (Fidel).
Survivors include her children, Maximiliano Tenorio (Yolanda) of Santa Rosa, Frank Tenorio of Santa Rosa, Veronica Zeller of Amarillo, TX, Agneda Tenorio of Amarillo, TX, Cristobal Tenorio (Kate) of Santa Rosa, NM, Agnes Tenorio of Tucumcari, NM, Betty Goins (Richard) of Amarillo, TX, Anna Damon (Joseph) of Los Lunas, NM, Rudy Tenorio (Sonia) of Santa Rosa, NM, Levine Tenorio of Tecolotito, NM, Herbert Tenorio of Santa Rosa, NM. Also surviving are 29 Grandchildren and 42 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives, and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.
A viewing prior to the funeral service will take place Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 9-10AM, at Blue Hole Convention Center in Santa Rosa. Maria’s funeral service will begin at 10AM at Blue Hole Convention Center.
Interment will follow at Cemeterio Del Cierrito Huerfano, on the family ranch in Tecolotito, NM with Timothy Spriggs, Jonathon Tenorio, Jacob Tenorio, Max Tenorio, Jr., Jeremiah Wilson, Guillermo Campos, Steven Tenorio, Nathanial Tenorio, Mason Anderson, Jacobi Damon, Ryan Reyes Tenorio, and Cruz Chavez serving as Pallbearers. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Corinthia Tapia, Frankie Tenorio, Levi Spriggs, Michael Tenorio, Christa Tenorio-Gabriel, Reena Tenorio, Naomi Canaveral, Andrea Chavez, Audrey Tenorio, John Wilson, Andrew Romero, Chloe Edison, Victoria Mirabal, Emma Jean Damon, Joenetta Rodriguez, Michael Anthony Tenorio, Desirae Anaya, Porter Thompson, Trey Thompson, Alexia Goins, Cayden Anderson, Lila Sanchez, Neko Gabriel, Aavinia (Vinnie) Campos, Elysian Campos, Max Henry Tenorio, Joaquin Tenorio, and Zachariah Wilson, along with the rest of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
