Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Maria was the daughter of the late Nick E. and Josephine Herrera Ortiz. One of six siblings, she is survived by her sister; Cecelia (Sheila) Romero, of Hawthorne, CA.
Her dream of seeing far-away places was realized when she met and married her husband of sixty-four years, Robert V. Tomaselli, USAF, from North Adams, Massachusetts. As a military wife, she traveled to England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and all across the USA. She expressed her creativity and love of nature through painting, sewing and cooking. She will be remembered for making delicious southwestern dishes like roasted hatch chili, sopapillas, tortillas and bizcochitos. Maria was resilient. She loved life and always saw the beauty around her despite challenges.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; Robert (Bob), and her son; Michael Frances Tomaselli. Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Roberta Revis, Anthony Tomaselli, Rebecca Greenhill, Christine Tomaselli and Paula Rathy, as well as eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery.
