Maria Torrella

Maria Torrella 88, passed away on Sunday February 16, 2025. Born in Rio Piedra, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Hemerejildo Sierra and Maria Asuncion (Vazquez). Maria was raised in Brooklyn, NY.
Maria loved knitting, specially making baby blankets for her grandchildren. She loved western movies, and was a Bruce Lee fan. She enjoyed listening to music, in particular, Christian music and mariachi. Her favorite past time was attending church services and learning about God.
Maria is survived by her children, Angel Ortiz, Nellie Rosa, Lucy Ortiz, Abe Hernandez and his spouse Carmen, Sandra Rios and her spouse Felix, Robert Ortiz and his spouse Ruth, Belinda Sierra, Carmen King and her spouse Angelo. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren, as well as her brother Daniel Sierra. Maria was predeceased by her siblings, Tato, Roy, Joaquin, Fela, and Hortencia, her two children, Olga and Almando, and her two grandchildren, Margaret and Bobby.
You will be missed beyond words. The one thing I take comfort in, is knowing that one day we will all be reunited again. That is gods promise to us. "Te quiero mama".
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 23, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain.
