Obituary For My Loving Grandmother
Maria Yolanda Vecchio (82) – It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving Grandmother and Mother. Maria Yolanda Vecchio, 82 years of age, passed away gracefully on November 07, 2021, with family by her side at her home in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Yolanda was born in Hidalgo, Texas, May 07, 1939, to Julia S. Perez and Jose O. Perez. Yolanda was married to Eisai P. Vecchio in Lubbock, Texas on September 05, 1957; they were happily married for 26 years.
Yolanda worked as a Bilingual Teachers Aide at Abernathy High School for five years. As a dedicated Catholic, Yolanda served her community and her Church as a Sunday School teacher. Yolanda was a member of the American Red Cross who volunteered regularly at Starr County Memorial Hospital in Rio Grande City, Texas. Yolanda was an incredible, happy, and energetic woman who loved gardening; flowers and produce alike. Yolanda appreciated home decorating, was skilled in sewing, loved cooking, and was proficient in baking.
Yolanda lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, and devoted Catholic. Above all things, Yolanda loved her family and always shared her knowledge of arts, crafts, baking, cooking, and life skills with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Yolanda is proceeded in death by her mother, Julia S. Perez, and father, Jose O. Perez, sister, Diamantina P. Allen, her husband, Eisai P. Vecchio, Sr. and her son, Eisai P. Vecchio, Jr.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her son, Jose Catarino Vecchio, her three daughters, San Juanita G. Shaw, Hilda Vecchio-Shadden, and Yolanda Nora Vecchio. Yolanda's life and memory will also be treasured by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
