With heavy hearts, we share the news of Maria Luise (Edelmayer) Walbridge, 89, of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania, who passed away at UPMC Williamsport on July 8, 2025.

Maria was born in Vienna, Austria on November 2, 1935, a daughter of the late August and Emilie (Kunz) Edelmayer. She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Robert "Rob" and Richard "Rick" Walbridge, as well as infant grandson Kane Walbridge and brother Richard Edelmayer.

Although Maria attended the University of Vienna and spent her early career as a registered nurse, her true pride and passion was raising her family and traveling the world with her husband. As the spouse of a U.S. Air Force pilot, she moved her family all across the globe, creating new memories everywhere they landed.

She enjoyed reading, collecting antiques during her travels, and most of all – chocolate. Being a proud naturalized citizen and diehard republican, she also relished a political discussion. As a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother; Maria's compassion, generosity, and sense of humor will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, Ret. Lt. Col. James S. Walbridge, she is survived by their children, James S. Walbridge, wed to Ellen (Yearick) Walbridge, and Kiara Mary Walbridge. She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren: U.S. Space Force, Capt. Emily Walbridge, U.S. Air Force Capt. Katelyn Walbridge, Allison Walbridge, Andrea Lowe, Rowan Lee, and Robert's fiancee, Stevie Lee.

A beautiful woman inside and out, Maria will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family, and as a family of pilots, we don't say 'goodbye', but 'see you later'. Wir lieben dich und werden dich vermissen.

At Maria's request, there will be no service, and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Wildwood Cemetery.
