SAVOY - Maria Elizabeth T. Wilkins, 68, of Champaign passed away peacefully on Sunday (Sept. 14, 2025) surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
Born on Nov. 19, 1956, in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines, she was known to her family and friends as Lisa. She graduated high school from Philippine Normal College and later got the degree of bachelor of science in clerical administration at Far Eastern University, Philippines. She worked in food service as a manager at the Marriott at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, was a caregiver with SWANN in Champaign, and was a stock associate with County Market in Champaign and later with Walmart in the same town.
All her co-workers enjoyed her company for her sharp wit and dedication to work. Lisa will be remembered by her whole family and friends for having a bubbly personality and being the life of the party. She loved singing and dancing and the ability to make people laugh. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to those in need. Lisa's caring nature shone brightly as she dedicated her time to support relatives during their times of sickness, showcasing her selflessness and love for her family.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Eufemio and Benita, and youngest sister, Cecilia Talavera-Singh.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Wilkins; children, Lowell Dizon and wife Audrey, Christian Dizon and Clarissa (La) and husband Javier Ayala; sister, Lucia Talavera; stepmother, Rosita; and nephew, RK. Lisa cherished her role as grandmother to Lauren and Alexys.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heath & Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm St., Champaign. Funeral Mass will take place Friday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 405 W. Clark St., Champaign, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Champaign. After interment, there will be a reception at the church.
