Mariadelcarmen Torres

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Mariadelcarmen Torres, age 49, of Lorain, who passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Lorain after a short illness.
Born on February 6, 1976, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Maria brought warmth and joy into the lives of those around her after moving to Lorain 30 years ago. She was a dedicated student, graduating from high school and receiving a bachelor's degree from InterAmerica in Poncem, Puerto Rico, before continuing her education at Ohio Business College, where she studied computer technology.
For the past 10 years, Maria worked as a compassionate home health aide with Aurora Health Care and a formal bilingual psychosocial rehabilitator at the Nord Center, where she devoted herself to helping adults and children with mental health needs. Her commitment to caring for others exemplified her nurturing spirit.
Maria had an incredible talent for bringing people together through her love for organizing parties and planning events. She had a unique gift for decorating and creating joyful experiences that delighted everyone she encountered. Her vibrant personality lit up every room, and she will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
Maria is survived by her loving husband, Jose Adan Gonzalez Correa; her father and stepmother, Angel Leon Rentas and Rosa Rivera; her brother, Angelo Leon Sotomayor; her stepbrother, David Leon Rivera; and stepsisters, Angelica Leon Rivera and Tania Leon Rivera. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Martha Elva Sotomayor Rodriguez.
The family invite friends and loved ones to gather on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM at the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, located at 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Obed Melendez, Certified Life Celebrant, will honor Maria's life and spirit during the service.
