Steve Chozinski Obituary

Sheffield - Steve Chozinski, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Avon, Ohio.
Steve was born in Lorain, Ohio, one of six children to Zophia and Louis Chozinski of Sheffield Village. Steve graduated from Brookside High School in 1953 where he served as class president his senior year. A graduate of John Carroll University in 1957, Steve was the first of his family to receive a college degree. While in college, Steve was an active member of the Pershing Rifle and ROTC where he led his team to be awarded the William Randolph Hearst Rifle Trophy.
He was happily married 62 years, to Mary "Pat" Krupp, and together they had five children. He taught the value of hard work by his example, often working more than one job at a time including Sheffield Village Police, Elyria City Schools, Probation Juvenile Court, Catholic Charities, Lorain County Charities, Lorain County Welfare Services, and Ombudsman for children's services. Steve was respected by his family, community, and church. In his retirement years, he and Pat enjoyed RV camping, visiting family, and motorcycle adventures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zophia and Louis; siblings, Mary Tesmer, Louise Nichols, John Chozinski, Rose Berstling, and Margaret Zellers; and his loving wife, Pat.
He is survived by his five children, Mary Elizabeth Moquin (Ross), Michael Chozinski (Mistie), Annie Chozinski, Dr. Joseph Chozinski (Rhonda), and Cathy Crawford (Dan). He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial and the Rite of Christian burial will be held at St. Teresa of Avila, Sheffield on Saturday, November 29 at 10:00 AM. Reception will be held immediately after internment at St Teresa's Social Hall. Steve will be remembered for his commitment to family and friends, his proud Polish heritage, and his willingness to help anyone in need.
