Marian Baldwin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc. on Jan. 10, 2026.
Marian (Marianthi Apostolou) Baldwin passed away peacefully on 10 January 2026 at Woodland Pond, New Paltz,NY. She was 102 years old, just a few days shy of her January 29th birthday!
She was born in the city of Newburgh, NY to parents who had emigrated from the Greek Island of Lemnos. The family was part of the large Greek community there. She had two sisters and many cousins growing up.
Upon marriage to Jackson H. Baldwin, who was her loving spouse of over 73 years, moved to his family's farm in Middlehope. After having raised their family, the couple gave up the old farmhouse and moved to a new home in Marlboro, NY where they lived happily for many years.
Marian served as Jack's partner in life and right hand woman as together they built their three thriving businesses. First was Baldwin's Farm Market in Middlehope, then Jackson Baldwin Realty Corporation in Newburgh, and finally Jaxberry Farm in Marlboro.
Marian was well known in the Marlboro community. She was a beloved member of the Presbyterian congregation. An avid reader, she served on the Marlboro-Milton Library board. She also held various positions with the Marlboro Seniors group for several years.
Marian moved to Woodland Pond at New Paltz in August of 2021 after having sold her home in Marlboro. She settled in and made many new friends. She was soon known as a Scrabble wiz! She loved a good game and was often the life of the party. It was not only for her biscotti that she was beloved by all who came to know her.
She is predeceased by her husband Jackson and their firstborn son Jackson Jr. who died at 3 yrs. Her surviving children include N.B.MacNamara of Rosendale, NY and Peter T. Baldwin of Brooks, ME. Marian has four grandchildren: Hudson T. MacNamara, Petra L. Stone, Gabriel F. Baldwin, Miriam S. Lobo, and four great grandchildren.
