Marian (Bobbe) Wood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 10, 2025.
Marian L (Bobbe) Wood passed away on July 31, 2025 at 101! Born January 7, 1924 in Gainesville, Texas to Robert M and Lucille (nee Jones) Bradshaw. Growing up in Borger, Texas, one of the many activities she participated in was competitive horseback riding from age 5. She attended Stephen College in Missouri for her senior high school year, graduating in 1942. From there, she attended University of Colorado, Boulder, but took a short break in 1945 to get married and have three children. Returning to Colorado from California, she managed a small apartment building in Manitou Springs. She completed her degree from CU Boulder in 1957 and started teaching public school in Manitou Springs as Mrs. Berwick. She obtained her Masters Degree in 1961 and started teaching business classes at Air Academy High School retiring in 1979. In June of 1966 she married William (Bill) A. Wood and two families were combined into one. Marian and Bill (also a teacher) retired early (1979) so they could be world travelers, achieving their goal and visited 80 countries! The one placed Bill wanted to travel to towards the end of their traveling days was St. Petersburg, Russia. Marian, tired of traveling, told him they could just fly over there after their deaths as angels. Finally reunited, we hope their trip was wonderful. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Randel Bradshaw (of Austin, TX), her husband and one child, she is survived by four children, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A private memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her honor to the Integrated Family Community Services (IFCS) at IFCS.org.
