Memorial Service for Marian M. Grotzinger, age 89, of Fairmont, MN, will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont with inurnment in Horicon Church of Christ Cemetery in rural Truman, MN. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, at the Lakeview Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Marian passed away on Wednesday evening, February 26, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marian Margaret (Schwab) Grotzinger was born on May 31, 1935, in Blue Earth, MN. She was the daughter of Fred and Gladys (Wildes) Schwab. Marian attended Blue Earth public schools and graduated from Blue Earth High School.
On November 26, 1955, Marian was united in marriage to Edward Grotzinger. The couple resided in Winnebago until moving to Fairmont in 1970. This union was blessed with three children, Newton, Mark, and Sandra. They shared forty-nine years together before Ed passed away on August 9, 2005.
Marian worked for over forty years at JC Penney in Fairmont. She was a member of the Red Hats and attended Bethel Free Church in Fairmont. During her free time, she enjoyed going for walks and just staying busy. Marian truly valued the time she was able to spend with her close friends, but most loved the time she spent with her family.
Left to cherish her memory include her son, Newton (Kim) Grotzinger of Hampton, IA; daughter-in-law, Patti Grotzinger of Kansas; grandchildren, Nathan, Edward, Joshua, Diana, Aaron, Brittany, Steven, and Michaela; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Along with her parents, Fred and Gladys Schwab, Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Grotzinger; son, Mark A. Grotzinger; daughter, Sandra A. Grotzinger; grandson, Matthew Grotzinger; and her siblings.
