Marian Edna Jones, born on December 30, 1933, in Bedford County, Virginia, passed away on October 8, 2025. She dedicated over fifty years of her life to Centra Health, where her unwavering passion for caring for people profoundly impacted the lives of many. Marian's dedication to her profession was mirrored in her personal life, as she cherished connections with family and friends alike.
Throughout her life, Marian demonstrated a genuine love for people, embracing each opportunity to provide support and compassion. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her clinical duties, cultivating an environment where those around her felt valued and cared for.
Marian also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, one of which was playing the lottery. Whether it was the thrill of possibility or the fun of picking her numbers, it brought her lighthearted enjoyment and sparked many cheerful conversations with those around her. It was just one of the many ways she embraced hope and optimism, qualities that defined her life and inspired others.
Marian is survived by her beloved daughter, Jacqueline Marie Jones; grandson, Isaac Jones; and great-grandsons, Jaden Jones and Julian Nichols. Additionally, she leaves behind her dear friend and caregiver, Mary Crawley, who provided companionship and support during her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Mary Jones, whose legacy she honored through her own generous spirit. She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Marian Edna Jones will be remembered not only for her longevity in service but also for the warmth and kindness she extended to everyone she encountered. Her legacy of love and care will endure in the hearts of those she has touched throughout her life.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
