Marian Louise Krasa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 101. Born on August 18, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marian was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her.

As a lifelong learner and teacher, Marian dedicated her career to shaping the minds of young students in elementary schools across Detroit, New Jersey, Illinois, Bloomfield Hills, and later, in Rose City and Hale, Michigan. Her passion for education was evident as she inspired countless children throughout her years in the classroom. Following her retirement, Marian and her late husband Robert, whom she met in high school, embraced a new chapter of their lives in a charming log cabin on AuSable Lake, which became a cherished backdrop for family gatherings and fond memories.

Marian's commitment to community extended beyond her professional life. She was a faithful member of the Prince of Peace Church, where her dedication was palpable. At the extraordinary age of 89, she took on the role of revitalizing the women's group, ensuring that her spirit of service and fellowship would continue to flourish in the heart of her congregation.

Education was a cornerstone of Marian’s life. She was the proud president of the Girl Reserve Club and editor of her high school yearbook, reflecting her leadership qualities from a young age. Her academic journey led her to Wayne State University, where she earned her teaching degree. During her college years, she served as president of both her sophomore and junior classes, and held the esteemed position of state president of the Luther League, showcasing her dedication to both education and community service.

Marian was a woman of remarkable resilience and grace. An only child, she navigated the challenges of moving 21 times throughout her life, which only augmented her ability to adapt and thrive. In the twilight of her years, despite facing health challenges such as macular degeneration, she remained vibrant and engaged with her loved ones. At 71, she made the difficult decision to stop driving and sold her lake home to her daughter and son-in-law, demonstrating her unwavering love for her family. She moved to a senior apartment with her mother and took care of her until her mother passed away at the age of 109.

For many, Marian will be forever remembered for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, a sweet treat she lovingly baked for her family. She had a zest for life that included cross-country skiing up until she was 97. Her love for reading, particularly through audiobooks, and her unwavering support for the Detroit Tigers during baseball season were just a few of the joys that enriched her days.

Marian is survived by her son, Bob (Judy) Krasa, and daughter, Jan (Dave) Thorson. She was a proud grandmother of Rob (Jennifer) Krasa, Kris Krasa, Jill (John) Miller, Holly (Jason) Hall, Brian (Kristy) Thorson, and Kate Krasa, as well as great-grandchildren Nora Krasa, Henry Krasa, Caroline (States) Clawson, Blake (Ashley) Sanderson, Jack Sanderson, Will (Jackie) Miller, Regan (Taylor) Miller, Jane Hall, Cal Thorson, and Jack Thorson, and a great-great-grandson, States Clawson.

Marian was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Paul and Louise Ryberg, her cherished husband Robert Krasa, and her son Ron Krasa.

Her absence will be deeply felt, yet the enduring impact of her life, teachings, and love will resonate for generations to come, reminding us all of the warmth and joy she brought to this world.

A. Celebration of Life Service for Marian Krasa will be Saturday June 6, 2026 at noon at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Rose City followed by a luncheon at church.
