Obituary published on Legacy.com by Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 21, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected yet peaceful passing of Marian Lombardi on January 21, 2025 at 86 years old. She was a cherished mother, nanny, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, generosity, unwavering love and warm hugs.
Born on February 24, 1938, Marian was the daughter of Anthony and Marianna (Traina) Spinelli. She grew up in the Bronx, NY where she attended Our Lady of Angels grammar school, the Academy of Mount St. Ursula and the University of Mount Saint Vincent, majoring in Italian and Education. Over the years, she built a life filled with purpose, dedication and love, always placing her children and grandchildren at the heart of her world.
Marian was a grammar school teacher in the Bronx and New Jersey. She married the love of her life Dr. Paul J. Lombardi, on June 24, 1961 and together they raised five beautiful children in Mount Vernon. She loved to cook and entertain and always seemed to have enough food for anyone who stopped by - "the more the merrier." She thoroughly enjoyed life - she loved to paint, read, knit, and travel, especially to Rhode Island in the summer, where she was a self proclaimed "beach bum." She was always ready for a game of Rummikub or Mah Jong.
Marian was an active member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Ladies Guild for many years and tirelessly volunteered at Sts. Peter and Paul school, where all her children attended. She served as President of the Fordham Prep Mothers Club, while her son was in attendance there and spent many hours volunteering at Maria Regina High School during the years that her four daughters were in school there. Marian also had the distinct honor of serving as President of the NY Medical College Parents Association, while her daughter was a medical student.
Marian is survived by her five children: Gina Cardillo and husband Rich, Joseph Lombardi and wife Terri, Donna Lombardi Goldfus, Paula Russo and Joanne Synan, 10 grandchildren: Christina, Victoria (Joe), Francesca, Miranda, Paul, Nick, Julia, Matthew, Maya and Marianna, sister Joan Bonsignore and sisters-in-law Pat Lombardi and Rosalie Lombardi, and many nieces and nephews. All will forever cherish her memory and carry her legacy forward. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband of 40 years, she is predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Louise (Iorio) and Joseph Lombardi, brothers-in-law Al Bonsignore, Lawrence Lombardi and Edward Lombardi, as well as sons-in-law Guy Famularo and Peter Russo.
Marian was one of the special angels placed on earth to bring hope, faith, and love to all she touched. Her warmth, strength and love will remain in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Give to Go Red For Women.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Main Street,
