Marian Meitzler Obituary

Marian E. (Knauss) Meitzler, 92, wife of the late Samuel A. Meitzler, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. Born in Macungie, she was the daughter of the late Harold W. Knauss and Miriam E. (Neumoyer) Knauss. Marian and the love of her life Sam, met at church and enjoyed many years together after being married in 1952 until Sam passed away in 2005. While young and farming they raised their family of three children. Marian was a devout Christian and also a member, faithful attendee, and long-term organist of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Bechtelsville. Over the years, starting at the age of 9, she also played piano and organ for various churches throughout the local area. Beyond playing the piano and organ, her musical talents and enjoyment of singing led to many enjoyable years of choir participation. In addition to working at Ajax Products in Boyertown for many years as a secretary, Marian was very devoted to her family and loved spending time with them, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an active part of the Boyertown Salvation Army and participated in a women's Bible study there for many years. Along with her love of music, Marian enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, knitting, painting and crafts. Surviving are her adult children Ronald Meitzler, Sandra Powell, wife of Timothy, and Linda Dougherty, wife of Barry; sister M. Marguerite "Dolly" Bachman, wife of the late Joseph; grandchildren Marie Kler, wife of Michael, Matthew Powell, husband of Heather, Michael Powell, husband of Angelica, and Angela Dougherty; 9 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; along with many beloved family members from the Meitzler side of the family. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew United Methodist Church (611 Swamp Creek Rd, Bechtelsville, PA 19505) with Pastor Barb Seekford officiating. Burial will follow at Macungie Baptist Church Cemetery (126 S. Church St., Macungie, PA 18062). A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew UMC Church (611 Swamp Creek Rd, Bechtelsville, PA 19505) or to the Salvation Army of Boyertown (409 S. Reading Ave, Boyertown, PA 19512) or to Lehigh Valley Hospice (http://www.lvhnorg./locations/lehigh-valley-hospice-lehigh-street) in Marian's name.
