Jimmie was devoted approximately 20 years of service to Shell Oil Company before continuing his career as an Oil Field Consultant for over 2 decades. His strong work ethic, integrity, and the lifelong friendships he built along the way, earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.
He was married to the love of his life, Mary, for 63 years. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family - one that continues to inspire all who knew them.
As the oldest of 11 children, Jimmie naturally took on the role of leader and example, offering guidance, strength, and support to those around him. His strong work ethic began as a teenager working at C&R Grocery as he balanced running track and playing in the PMHS marching band.
A die-hard Ole Miss Rebels and LA Dodgers fan and a proud supporter of the Picayune Maroon Tide, he never missed a chance to cheer on his teams. In his earlier years, Jimmie found great joy in coaching youth sports, mentoring young athletes both on and off the field.
An active member of the Kiwanis Club and Roseland Park Baptist Church, he found deep purpose in serving his community through the Kiwanis and the RPBC Men's Sunday School Class and the Brotherhood group.
Jimmie loved deer hunting, early mornings at the coffee shop with friends, and, most of all, the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren - his greatest joy.
He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love for people, and the love he had for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Wesley Meitzler, mother, Lois Thigpen Meitzler, wife, Mary English Meitzler, sister, Wanda Meitzler Tonkin, brother, Leslie Meitzler.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Todd (Shelly) Meitzler, son, Russ Meitzler, daughter, Lisa (Hunter) Dunaway, grandchildren, Stephanie (Patrick) Bell, Hannah (Scottie) Meitzler, Olivia (Jeremy) Quave, Caleb (Katherine) Dunaway, Chase (Megan) Meitzler, Michael Huddleston, Brooke Huddleston, and Brianna Restivo Robinson (Amber), 14 great grandchildren, sister, Eleanor Harrell, brother, Wesley (Geneieve) Meitzler, brother, Robert (Linda) Meitzler, sister, Kay (David) Lee, brother, Keith (Bonnie) Meitzler, brother, Lee (Paula) Meitzler, brother, Carey (Michelle) Meitzler, sister, Jan (Jeff) Williams, brother in law, Merv Tonkin.
