Sister Bobbie Jean Sanford, 89, of Ozona, Mississippi, was called home to the Lord on October 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pineville, Florida, to the late Rev. Wallace and Myrtle (Bessie) Kennedy, Bobbie grew up traveling through the South with her family as they spread the Gospel, later making Mississippi their home.
She married Harold G. Sanford on December 23, 1953, and together they shared 55 years of marriage, raising six children in a home built on faith and love.
Bobbie devoted her life to serving God, her family, and her community. A member of Burgetown Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, she was known for her joyful praise, uplifting songs, and cheerful whistle. She worked over 20 years with the Pearl River County School District and previously owned and operated the Picayune Cab Company, which she built into a successful local business.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sons Glendon Ray (Lillie) Sanford and Jason Wade Sanford; her sisters Norma Lee Letort, Alma Roberts, Glenda (Pete) Legg, Ola Mae Ruddick, and Verlia Mae (Med) Hogg; and her brother James W. "Buddy" (Cecilia) Kennedy.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gregory Harold (Judy) Sanford, Teresa Faye (Kenny) Young, Patricia Eileen (Todd) Thiessen, and Walter Dewayne (Terri) Sanford; her grandchildren: Robbie Stockstill, Stephanie Stockstill, Aaron Kekko, Jonathan (Amanda) Kekko, Amber (Kenny) Houck, Natisha (Louis) Torres, Chris Sanford, Taylor Raye (Anthony) Sanford, Lacy Doolittle Davis, Michael Thiessen, Casey Thiessen, and Vanessa Kratzer;
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 401 West Canal Street, Picayune, MS.
Funeral with Bro. Robbie Holston officiating, will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:00pm, at Burgetown Church followed by burial.
Her faith, kindness, and joyful heart will live on through all who loved her.
