Vincent “Luke” “Bro-Law” Stallings was born on June 26, 1962 to Theodore and Mary Stallings in Chicago, IL. He moved to Picayune, MS at an early age. He attended Picayune High School, Class of 1980. “Cool Hand Luke” loved a good time, and it was at a gathering that he met Linda, his wife of 36 years. He worked for Gibbs Construction for 15 years, then McDonnell Group for 18 years both out of New Orleans, LA.
No greater word describes Luke than servant. He served his family and friends, meeting their needs without hesitation, and he was a faithful servant of Christ, having devoted his life to the Lord and his service as a greeter at Lighthouse Pentacostal Church under the leadership of Elder Harvey Bernard.
Luke was truly beloved by everyone because once he met you, he never forgot you and you never forgot him. A man of control & great wisdom, a builder by trade in construction, but most importantly, he was a builder of people. He would teach you everything he knew, he would encourage the discouraged, and he would lift hearts with his constant joking. No one was outside of his reach. And if he helped you, he expected you to learn something because “I'm not going to be with you all your life”. He would say “learn how because one day I'm going fishing” (he never went fishing). He met no strangers and made no enemies. Intentionally and unintentionally, he was a teacher. His work in construction and the work with his hands laid more than concrete foundations, he forged foundations of love, laughter, devotion and stability. Luke loved his family and his church. His grandchildren were his world.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore & Mary Stallings; maternal grandparents, Jeff & Willie Fizzle; and paternal grandparents, Theodore and Stella Stallings.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 36 years, Linda Bell Stallings; 3 daughters: Frenchie “Trista” (Maurice) Nelson of Carriere, MS, Jacqueline (Brandon) Brown of Picayune, MS, & Ketrice (Iry) Robertson of Honolulu, HI; 2 sons: Vincent Josiah Stallings & Jeremiah Shapan Stallings, of Picayune, MS; 8 grandchildren: Elijah Robinson of Ansbach, Germany, Nyla Robinson and Haley Brown, of Picayune, MS, Isaiah Stallings, Keiry Robertson & Isaac Robertson, of Honolulu, HI, Brayden Magee & Jaci Stallings, of Picayune, MS; 2 aunts: Lillie McFall of Chicago, IL, and Diana Taylor of NJ; 1 Uncle: Jerome Frizzle of Clearview, FL; 1 Brother: Kelvin “Meech” (Wanda) Stallings of Picayune, MS; 1 Sister: Shelia (James) Moore of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.
