O'FALLON - Marian Carol (nee Gayer) Riley Scuras of O'Fallon, Illinois, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, due to complications of congestive heart failure.
A memorial gathering will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St, O'Fallon. Suit and tie are not required.
Marian was born to Paul W. and Matilda (Krill) Gayer on Oct. 14, 1940, in St Louis, MO and moved to Zeigler, IL on her 9th birthday, along with her brother Bill, sister Margaret Ann, and brother Tom.
Marian graduated from Zeigler High School in 1958, and married James T. Riley of Zeigler in 1960. They had 3 children before he was killed in Vietnam in 1968. She married James B. Scuras of Murphysboro IL in 1971, had 2 more children and moved to Murphysboro following his retirement from the military. After his death in 1992, she worked as a medical transcriptionist before retiring and moving to O'Fallon to live with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Timothy Scuras; and sister, Margaret Ann Baughman.
She is survived by sons, Sean Scuras and Danny Scuras; daughters, Megan Brown and Katie Scuras; brothers, Bill Gayer and Tom Gayer; grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Emily (Brown) Lester and Nathan Brown; and great-grandson, Cameron Lester.
Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to your local animal shelter.
