Marian Seevers Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Nov. 29, 2025.
Marian Rose Seevers, age 88, of Springfield, Missouri, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Maranatha Village, where she joyfully made her home for nearly sixteen years. She was born February 20, 1937, in Chrisie, Ohio, to Ellsworth Bradford and Rose (Fisher) Rice. Marian spent her early years on the family farm before moving with her parents and siblings to Jonesville, Michigan, where she graduated from Jonesville High School.
In October 1957, Marian married Gary L. Seevers of Jonesville. Their twenty years together were blessed with four children: Gary Jr. (Lenny) and his wife Debbie; Bonnie, married to Bill Killoran; Sharon; and Donna, married to Lee Priest. Marian was also the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren and great-grandmother of seven precious great-grandchildren.
As the oldest of seven children, Marian developed a strong work ethic and a tender, nurturing spirit. Active in 4-H, she excelled in cooking and sewing, advancing to state and regional competitions – skills she carried with her throughout her life. In addition to raising her own children, Marian operated a loving in-home day-care for many years, becoming a beloved caregiver to countless little ones. Children sensed her warmth, and she cherished each one deeply.
Marian lived in Northern Virginia for forty years, beginning in 1970, thirty-eight years in McLean. Marian was a founding charter member of Way of Faith Assembly of God in Fairfax, Virginia. Her ministry there was marked by steadfast devotion to prayer. She faithfully led the church prayer chain for 35 years, interceding for needs day and night. Marian had a special heart for young people- bringing desserts to the youth group every Friday night, encouraging teens, and letting them know they were seen, valued, and loved. The youth adored her and watched over her in return.
A lifelong student of God's Word, Marian participated in Bible studies for many years. Her deep love for Scripture also shaped her great affection for Israel. She traveled to the Holy Land numerous times and was an enthusiastic supporter of what later became the Center for Holy Land Studies.
In 2010, Marian moved to Maranatha Village in Springfield, Missouri. It did not take long for her to find a place of ministry. She volunteered faithfully with Global University's Prison Ministries, delivering homemade desserts every Thursday and offering encouragement to the staff and volunteers. Even after health challenges forced her to step back from active service, she continued to uphold Global University and its prison ministry in prayer – one of the greatest gifts she could give.
Marian, the oldest of seven children, was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth and Rose Rice; her brothers Herb, Richard (Dick), Don and his wife Mary; her sister Frances and her husband Milton; and her former husband, Gary. Marian is survived by her brother Ellsworth (Bud) Rice, her sister Betty (Dave) Coldren, and her four children, their spouses, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 6, at 10:00 AM, at the Maranatha Village Chapel, 233 E Norton Rd, Springfield, MO 65803. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, with a private burial afterward at Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
In honor of Marian's lifelong compassion for the lost and her dedicated service with Global University's Prison Ministries, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to:
