Marian Wiegold, 92, of Sebring, Florida passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, just two days shy of her 93 rd birthday. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Marian was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 27, 1933, to Rose (Zavurka) and James Kubec, the eldest of two daughters. Marian graduated from Morton High School in 1950 and was of the first female graduates at Morton Junior College and began working at Western Electric. During her time there she met her husband-to-be on a blind date, married in 1955 and raised four children in Downers Grove, Illinois.
She is survived by daughter Lynn (Larry) Werner; son Mark Wiegold; son Keith (Joan) Wiegold; sister Nancy Holik; grandchildren Season (Jesse) Gallun; Drew (Kelsey) Solorio; Trey (Sara) Solorio; Ben (Emily) Wiegold; Miley, Jackson, and Sam Wiegold; great-grandchildren Staley, Sierra, Juniper, Jonah, and Theo. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Wiegold, her daughter Karen Zitt, sons-in-law Frank Solorio and David Zitt.
Marian wore many hats: she was active in Sokol, Creative Home Arts, was a scout troop leader and den mother, along with working as a dental assistant and administrator. In retirement at Buttonwood Bay, she led Huff n’ Puff exercise classes and water aerobics, plus created and ran the Buttonwood Bay Library.
Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, plus the lifelong friendships she revered with the Powell Streeters of Downers Grove and in retirement at Buttonwood Bay in Sebring, FL. She and husband Charles enjoyed 66 years of marriage and traveled the world together in retirement, with friends and family.
With an easy smile, quick laugh, and a loving heart, she will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
A celebration of life is being planned for spring in the Chicagoland area.
The family wishes to thank especially Marian’s caregivers and dear friends in her later years: Charlotte, Dawn, Penny, Sheryl, Lisa, Maggie, Helen; Vitas Hospice Care.
