Marianne Brower Obituary

Published by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home on Jul. 1, 2018.
Marianne Brower, 77, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in her home. Marianne was born in Holland to Elmer and Anna (Walters) Teusink on January 18, 1941. After her mother passed, she was also loved by her step-mother Daisy (Brough) Teusink. Her joy was found in being a wife to her husband, Harvey J. Brower, and mother to her five children. She had a true servant's heart. Marianne found pride in cooking and creating a neat and tidy home for her family. Everyone who got to know Marianne loved her because of her sweet spirit. She would often send handwritten notes of love and encouragement. Marianne taught Sunday school, led children's choir at Beaverdam Reformed Church and was involved in Women's Aglow. One of the joys in her life was singing. She participated in many church choirs, most recently at Central Wesleyan Church where she was a member. Marianne was employed for 20 years by the Padnos family who became like family. Marianne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harvey, of 43 years; infant son, Thomas Jay; brother and sister-in-law, Major E. Don and Norma Teusink; and brother, R. Paul Teusink; brother-in-law, Jack McClendon; son-in-law, Robert Geurink; and grandson, Ryan Roseboom. Marianne is survived by her children, William (Kim) Brower of Zeeland, Anne Geurink of Holland, Susan (Craig) Brown of Arkansas, Sarah (Anthony) Wagner of Rhode Island and Robert (Elizabeth) Brower of Holland; in-laws, Carol Teusink, Florraine (Vern) South, Vera McClendon, Esther (Paul) Walker; and several nieces and nephews. Marianne was blessed with many grandchildren, Jay and Jessa Brower, Andrew (Evie) Geurink, Aaron (Kristen) Geurink, Aric (Dana) Geurink, Aimee Geurink (fiancé Jonathan Hop), Johanna (Spencer) Erickson, Creighton Brown (fiancé Shianne Johnson), Shelby, Joshua and Alexa Wagner; Madeline, Connor, Thorin and Adrian Brower. She also has six great-grandsons and two great-grandchildren on the way. A funeral service to honor the faith and life of Marianne will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Central Wesleyan Church Chapel, 446 W 40th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 5 at the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Memorial contributions may be given to Winning at Home and Hospice of Holland.
