SALEM -Marianne Kleinknecht, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 10, 2024, in Salem. Born on June 23, 1952, in the historic town of Amberg, Germany, Marianne's life journey was one marked by love, resilience, and a keen sense of adventure that endeared her to all who knew her.
Marianne's early years were spent in Germany, where she developed a zest for life that would become her signature trait. At the age of five she was sent to England to attend and graduate from a prestigious boarding school, an experience that broadened her horizons and instilled in her a lifelong love for learning and culture. After graduation Marianne eventually made her way across the Atlantic and make her home in the United States.
Marianne's leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her five children, Thomas Richard Kleinknecht and his wife, Sara of Winterville, N.C.; Marianne Bentfeld and her husband, Michael of East Rochester; Richard Kleinknecht and his wife, Rene of New Middletown; William Augustus Kleinknecht and his wife, Cheri of Deerfield; and Marisha Ashley Heaven and her husband, Greg of New Middletown. Marianne's 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who brought her immeasurable happiness and pride, will carry forward her spirited legacy as well as four sisters, Krysta, Josefa, Danuta and Sophia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Francizek and Jadwiga (Mazur) Tylka, her three brothers, Hendrick, Wladyslaw, Jan, and one sister, Theresa. Marianne's memory will forever be a beacon of warmth and affection in the hearts of her family. Her children remember her as a guiding force of wisdom and strength, a mother who nurtured their dreams and stood as their greatest supporter through every chapter of life.
Marianne's enthusiasm for life extended well beyond her family circle. Her interests were as eclectic as they were passionate. She had an extraordinary knack for finding treasures in the most unexpected places, often frequenting thrift stores and garage sales. Each item she discovered held a story, and Marianne had a unique gift for weaving these narratives into the tapestry of her life, sharing them with friends and family alike.
Marianne's life was a journey of joyous encounters, meaningful connections, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated, a testament to a life well-lived and a woman well-loved.
