Maribel Enger Obituary

Maribel Batista Enger, (Maribel Natividad Batista), 58, of Meriden, CT passed away at home February 17, 2025 due to complications from pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Maribel Enger was born Maribel Natividad Batista August 8, 1966 in LaVega, Dominican Republic, the daughter of Ramon Batista and Maria Coste. Maribel graduated with an associate's degree in accounting from Fiorello H. LaGuardia Community College of New York City June 19, 1988. She married Jon O. Enger October 13, 1993 in Gjovik, Norway in city hall and took the name of Maribel Batista Enger. The church wedding took place in the Norwegian Seamans Church in Manhattan January 8, 1994. Maribel and Jon had met in the summer of 1992 in Orlando, Florida when both of their families were on a Disney vacation. Maribel has two daughters, Ashley Kristin (married to Kevin) and Chloe Marie. Ashley gave birth to Maribel's Grandson, Logan, in October of 2023. Maribel worked at the VA Medical Center on 23rd Street in Manhattan, NYC from 1989 to 1995. From 1995 to 1998 she lived with her family in Garner, NC. From 1998 to 2002 Maribel lived with her family in Ringsaker, Norway on the family farm. There she learned Norwegian and gained lifelong friends. In 2022 Maribel moved back to Connecticut and started to work in the furniture industry. She has worked as a sales associate in Levitz and a long-time employee of Bob's Discount Furniture. Maribel loved enjoying life with her immediate and extended family. She loved going on vacation and had visited Norway, Egypt, Costa Rica, multiple trips to the Caribbean, Canada, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. For the trips to the Caribbean, she would go with her sisters and some of her nieces and the group chat is named "travel ladies" in her phone. When Maribel was home, she loved to plant flowers. With her green thumb she had made the flower garden spectacular. Maribel loved to stay in touch with her family. She would love to make a family get together every summer at her house. She invited friends and family alike and the party would go on from early morning to late at night to accommodate all the guests. She loved kids, the smaller the better - if you visited with a newborn, she would hold the baby the whole time. Remaining to cherish Maribel Enger's memory is her spouse Jon O. Enger, children Ashley K. Enger and Chloe M. Enger, grandchild Logan L. Enger, son-in-law Kevin, mother Maria Coste, siblings Ruben Batista (Nancy), Delfina Batista, Hilda Batista, Ramon Batista (Isabel), Alicia Severino, Magdalena Marmolejos ( Jose Fransico), Juan Batista, Julia Batista, Fransico Javier Batista (Rosario), Vicente Batista (Carmen), Yolanda Stewart (Harry), sister-in-law Nuris Batista, her nieces, nephews and friends.
