Marida Covic Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 21, 2023.
WACO - Marida Twyla Covic, 90, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023.
Funeral: 12 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at Greenwood.
Marida was born Jan. 27, 1933, to John and Marie Martin, in Longbeach, Calif. As a young person, the child of an Army cook, mom lived in many locations from Panama City, Panama all the way to Alaska, where she met her husband, Alfred Covic. After leaving Alaska they moved to Oklahoma for aviation mechanics training, then on to New York, where Alfred flew for Pan American Airlines. After the last of the kids were out of college they moved to Lake Worth, Texas, where they lived for 30 years. After Alfred's passing she moved to Port Richey, Fla., and then after three years she moved to Waco, Texas, where she spent the last 12 years of her life.
Marida stayed at home raising her three children, while volunteering at the church and with the Girl Scouts. When she moved to Texas she worked at the local high school as a Special Needs Teacher's Aide for approximately 15 years.
She had a deep personal belief in God of the Bible. She was a born again and a devoted follower of Jesus the Christ. Marida and Alfred spent many years volunteering at whatever church they were attending as they moved around the United States.
She loved crafts, collecting Precious Moments, cherished teddies, more Precious Moments, Swarovski crystal....and MORE Precious Moments. She was very talented and produced some beautiful ceramic pieces. I still have the nativity she meticulously hand painted.
