It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hazel Breaux, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 7, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on January 10, 1932, in Pine Island, Louisiana, Hazel spent her life devoted to her faith and her family, leaving a legacy of love and compassion.
Hazel was a proud Salutatorian of the 1950 graduating class of Grand Lake High School, a testament to her hard work and dedication. She channeled her nurturing spirit into a lifelong career as a care giver, where she touched the lives of countless children and families. Her selflessness and kindness were evident in everything she did, as she dedicated her life to giving to others.
Hazel is survived by her loving children: daughters Monica Andrus and husband Darrell, Angie Granger and husband Mark, Jan Nagem and husband David, and sons Chris Breaux, Joey Breaux, and Patrick Breaux. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Dee Breaux, and her siblings, Clifford Gary, Albert Gary and wife Dolores, Charles Gary and wife Linda, Clara Granger, and Mary Elizabeth Demary and husband Eddie. Her family was her pride and joy, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was a devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on December 12, 2024, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Bertrand Cemetery near Hathaway, LA.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Hazel Breaux, we invite you to join us in honoring her unwavering faith, her endless love for her family, and her remarkable legacy of compassion. She will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; Ferdinand and Rose Gary, brothers; Arthur Gary, Lester Gary, sister; Helen Owen, husband; Joseph Breaux, Sr., sons; Marvin Breaux and Joseph Lee Breaux.
