Marie Paula Bretsky

1931 - 2022

Marie Paula Bretsky, 90, formerly of East Second Street, Weatherly, passed away Monday at St. Luke's Miners Memorial, Coaldale, at 90 years of age. Marie had been a guest of Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly, for the past number of years.

Born Thursday, Nov. 19, 1931, in Summerside Prince Edward Island, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Theophile and Maryann Bella (Gallant) Arsenault.

Marie was also predeceased on Nov. 21, 2021, by her beloved husband, Frederick G. Bretsky, to whom she would have celebrated her 70th year of marriage on April 19; granddaughters, Jennifer and Betsy Fedorick; son-in-law, William Fedorick; sisters, Edna Pakola, Marian Graham and Janet Grady; and brothers, Eric, Lloyd and Henry Arsenault.

Surviving are daughters, Patricia Anne Swanson, wife of Robert, Danville; Annette Fedorick, Weatherly, and her fiancé, Earl Stafford, Allentown; sister, Margaret Patton; brother, Allan Arsenault; and many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Summerside, Marie worked at Tung-Sol, Wagner Electric and in the cafeteria for the Weatherly Area School District, all in Weatherly. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Weatherly, Marie was a member of the church choir and also belonged to the Weatherly Area Community Choir. Marie was a terrific wife and mother. She was a tremendous cook and baker. Marie enjoyed knitting, quilting and sewing. Marie was also a Girl Scout leader.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 211 First St., Weatherly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, 318 Plane St., Weatherly, with Monsignor William Baker to officiate. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Weatherly.
