Marie Bivens Casper, 67, of Edenton, NC, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in Edenton Primetime.

Ms. Casper was born in Norfolk, VA on June 5, 1958, and was the daughter of the late Robert Ernest Bivens Jr. and Maggie Ruth Johnson Bivens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Claudia Bivens, sister, Sheila Bivens, and brothers, Lee Cooke Jr. and Robert “Ernie” Bivens III. A retired cook, she formerly owned and operated both Rocky Hock Diner and Marie’s Diner and lastly worked with Bayside Marina.

Surviving is her two sons, Michael Casper (Samantha) of Grimesland and Jesse Casper of Edenton; her daughter, Maggie Casper (Doug Baird) of Edenton; four grandchildren, Hailee Ann Tade, Coby Lee Harrell, Makayla Sadie Casper, and Scylar Rae Ann Casper; and other extended members of both the Johnson and Bivens families.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Joey Nixon. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday. A private inurnment will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of either the Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer's Association.
