Milton Casper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metcalf Mortuary - St. George on Feb. 27, 2026.
Milton Elden Casper

Milton Elden Casper, age 96, of St. George, Utah passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026. He was born November 28, 1929, in Lewisville, Idaho to George Ervin Casper and May Lucetta Stoddard. He was the youngest of three boys. He grew up on a farm located in Garfield, Idaho and graduated from Rigby High School.

During high school he met Carma Luana Ward, they had a seven-year courtship and were eventually married and sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 7, 1953. Together they raised three children with great care and devotion, teaching them about hard work, integrity, and sharing their love for the gospel. They especially relished and treasured their grandchildren, always wanting to know of their adventures, accomplishments and talents.

Milton obtained a degree from University of Oregon in Business Administration. As a ROTC cadet graduate, he was assigned to Resse Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas as the Base Transportation Officer. Upon release from the military, they moved to Utah where he started his career in the management of Westinghouse Electric that later became known as Philips Electric. He garnered respect and trust within the company for his dedication, hard work and organization skills, meriting promotions and transfers to New Jersey and Texas. Upon retirement, his home has been in St. George, Utah for the last 30 years.

Milton was a faithful, life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. During his life he was asked to fulfill many callings in the Church, mainly in ward and stake leadership positions and cherished the friendships and relationships formed during his service. He especially took great delight in his services as a temple worker and as he served a mission as a guide at the St. George Tabernacle with his wife. He always enjoyed spending time talking with friends and looking for opportunities to be of service to his neighbors. His yard, home and garden were known for their impeccable neatness and attention to detail and upkeep and generously shared the bounties of roses and produce with those around him. He really did enjoy golfing with his friends and did so three times a week into his 90's.

In recent years he had lived at Spring Gardens Assisted Living benefiting from their kindness, oversight and care, especially during his final months. His family would like to thank all those who were of service and saw to his needs.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Jack and Owen, and his wife of over 60 years, Carma and a grandson, Ryan. He is survived by daughter, Jana Leavitt (Mark), son Ron Casper (Judy), daughter Susan Seymour (Douglas), 11 grandchildren, and currently 35 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at the St. James LDS Chapel, 1095 St. James Lane, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery.
