1923 - 2021

MARIE CINQUINI Marie Cinquini lifelong farmer and homemaker died peacefully at her home September 3, 2021 surrounded by her children. She was 98. Born in Durham, Calfornia in January of 1923, the daughter of Plumas County miners turned farmers, she lived to see the world change from oil lamps and wagons pulled by horses to solar powered lights and cellphones driven by a computer chip. She attended elementary school in Durham and when the family moved to Chico in 1937, she attended Chico High School followed by courses at Healds Business College in Oakland. She then worked for the Diamond Match Company as a book keeper-accountant until 1952.She married Enrico (Harry) Cinquini in November of 1944 and with his family farmed in the Chico area until the present day. Marie always had a quick and active mind. In the early eighties as a means to assess the value of fields and buildings she studied and passed her test for a realtors license. Never idle, when she was not working in the fields she could be found in the kitchen baking fresh bread or biscotti, making homemade ravioli or canning vegetables or fruit from the garden. The lifelong partnership of Harry and Marie led to the creation of the current farm.Marie's life exemplified truthfulness, honesty, hard work, and most importantly the job well done. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty- eight years Harry, her son Rick, parents Rose and John Peirano, and her sister Louise Salvo.She is survived by her children Joan ( George) Wing, daughter in law Pam Cinquini, daughter Carol Leatherman (Mark Sigler), son Ronald (Wendy) Cinquini, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as many friends and neighbors she regarded as family. Services are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.Visitation is scheduled for Monday September 13th at 5pm with recitation of the Rosary at 7 pmat Brusie Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St John the Baptist Catholic Church September 14th at 10 am.Internment to follow at Chico Cemetery. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Salvation Army, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital or Notre Dame School of Chico in memory of Marie.
