Marie Clark Obituary

Marie F. Clark

Marie F. Clark, 102, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Monday, September 21, 2009.

She was born on May 1, 1907, in Albemarle County, a daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Susie Smith Franklin. She was the widow of Charles J. Clark. A daughter, Frances Clark Reid and a son in-law, Earl Reid, preceded her in death.

Marie was a graduate of Jefferson Elementary School, went to training school in Gloucester, Virginia, and was employed for approximately 20 years in housekeeping at the Martha Jefferson Hospital. Her favorite pastime was working in her garden. She grew a variety of beautiful flowers and it was very apparent that she possessed a "green thumb". She was also a nature lover that had a soft spot for stray cats, and a great conversationalist who loved to reminisce about her life that was also a history lesson. Marie Clark was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witness in 1970, as a dedicated servant she often enjoyed talking to others about the bible.

Her survivors include one son, Charles A. Clark of Charlottesville, Virginia; one granddaughter, Aleta F. Butler and her husband, David, of Montgomery, Illinois; two grandsons, Kyle E. Reid and Vincent Reid of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Kingdom Hall, 665 Old Lynchburg Road.
