Marie E. Dowd

Marie E. Dowd, age 67, of Battle Creek died peacefully at her home on Wednesday morning, September 4, 2013. She was born in Washington D.C. on July 7, 1946, the loving daughter of William Edward and Virginia (Tomlin) Decker. Marie served as President of Dowd & Co. P.C. for many years and was a Past-President of the local chapter of the National Association of Accountants. Marie married Paul H. "Pete" Dowd in Battle Creek on January 6, 1978; he survives. She is also survived by her 2 daughters, Tracy (David) Hart of California and Kristin (Mathew) Geething of Battle Creek; 7 step-children, Peter, Paula, Danny, Matt, Shawn, Andy & Tom; 12 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Robert E. Decker and William Decker. Marie was preceded in death by her parents. Marie loved spending time with her family and her many pets. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble & Gin Rummy, cooking and traveling, and had travelled across Europe and Brazil. A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 noon, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Philip Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
