Marie C. Frey, born on August 25, 1934, in the Bronx, NY, to Jean Marinachio Galvano and Michael Galvano, passed away peacefully in North Salem, NY, on July 18, 2025. She was a cherished soul who brought light into the lives of all who knew her, and her absence will leave a space that can never be filled.
Marie grew up in Mt. Vernon. Her vocation as a Certified Nurse's Assistant was more than a job; it was a calling that she fulfilled with extraordinary dedication, empathy and enduring passion for caring for others. She was known for her unparalleled care, and the relationships she built through her work only solidified her reputation as a pillar of strength, caring and reliability.
Above all, family was at the very core of Marie's world. Her love for her children, Michael Edward Mancuso (Kay Woo) and Jeanne Marie Frey (Nicholas Treschitta), was boundless. Marie instilled in her family the values of love, honesty, strength and integrity, which will continue to guide them as her most precious legacy. While her siblings Donald Galvano, Lorraine Perricone, Michael Galvano, and James Robin Galvano preceded her in death, the memories created and shared as a family remain a comfort to those who mourn her passing. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart that will carry forward her spirit through stories that highlight her steadfast love and affection.
A woman of many interests, Marie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. Marie also found solace and strength in reading the Bible, drawing from its teachings the fortitude to approach each day with her unwavering faith in the Lord. She attended the Mission Church in Holmes NY where she was part of the women's ministry.
Marie's journey on earth was one marked by a relentless commitment to the wellbeing of those around her. She was truly a woman of substance and genuine in every way. She never left anyone wondering what she thought as she always spoke what was on her mind. Those who knew her characterized her as a "spitfire" and a "firecracker". Although always outspoken and strong willed, she had a heart of gold and would give to anyone in need. She was charitable to both people and animals and often gave to many charities.
As we bid goodbye to Marie C. Frey, we hold onto the cherished memories she has left behind. In her memory, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and brimming with love. Her presence will forever be missed, but the essence of who she was will be felt always and forever.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in memory of Marie to the Putnam County SPCA.
