Mrs. Marie Pennington Humes passed away on Friday February 28,2025. Born in Mobile, AL, on November 27, 1924 Marie graduated from Murphy High School, In November 1955 she joined the U.S. Marine Corp where she served our country for several years, In March 1966, she married John E. Humes. She was married for 19 years, raising two children. She was preceded in death by her husband John E. Humes (1914-1985); son J. Eric Humes (1968-1986); father and mother Walter F. and Lillie H. Pennington; brothers W. Fred and wife Winnie G. Pennington and W. Clifford and Virginia M. Pennington; sisters Ilene P. and husband Rev. Charlie Monk and Lillie Mae P. and husband Rev. Bland Dudley. Marie is survived by two daughters D. Jean Humes of Georgetown, TX and Carol L. Forbes of Fort Mill, SC. She is also survived by two granddaughters: Heather Hyche (Jason) Fort Mill, SC and Holly Forbes Johnson, Charlotte, NC and seven precious great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 12 P.M. on Monday, March 17, 2025 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
