Marie Jud Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lambie Funeral Home - Philadelphia on Jan. 20, 2026.
Marie S. "Marian" Jud (nee Hart) passed away on January 16, 2026, eight days shy of her 104th birthday. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J., her son, Kevin J. and daughter-in-law, Eileen Jud. She is survived by her children Patricia A. Jud (Joseph Querns) and John L. Jud. Marian is also the cherished grandmother to Jaleyne Jud (Tim Wirgau), Christopher Jud (Jennifer), and Kevin I. Jud (Jessica) and great grandmother to Lorenz and Mileena Wirgau, and Katerina Jud. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law Marianne Jud and cherished friends Mary Lou and Charlie Glasgow.

Marian was an avid reader, preferring British murder mysteries above all others. In her 80s and early 90s, she read one book per day. On her monthly visits to the library, Marian would read the last page of each book she picked up in order to determine if she'd be interested in reading it or if she had read it before. Marian also loved doing all of the daily puzzles in the Philadelphia Inquirer and learned how to play Sudoku in her 70s or 80s. Crossword puzzles were a particular favorite of Marian's and she could complete them effortlessly.

Perhaps the secret to Marian's long life, in addition to reading and puzzles, was several cups of coffee per day. She liked it piping hot and black. Having been born and raised in Philadelphia, soft pretzels were a favorite of Marian's. She also loved chocolate, donuts and maple walnut ice cream.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet her family on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at Lambie Funeral Home, 8000 Rowland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Her Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Marian will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery with her husband and son Kevin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marian's memory to the charity of your choice are preferred.
