BOARDMAN - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a beautiful soul with the prettiest smile - Marie Elaine (O’Leary) Krompegel on February 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 28, 1948 to David and Clara (Liga) O’Leary in the Smokey Hollow neighborhood of Youngstown.
She graduated from The Rayen High School in 1966. She began working at Ohio Bell and concluded her telephone career in New Castle with Verizon, having served for 36 years.
She married her best friend, John (Jack) Krompegel on September 5, 1970, and enjoyed over 55 years together.
Marie was the picture of selflessness; there was nothing that made her happier than making someone else’s day. Marie enjoyed beach vacations, especially in the OBX, puzzles of all types, Jeopardy, and wintering in Sarasota, Florida. She famously would never be caught without her earrings and lipstick.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Courtney (Ron) Puhl of Poland; son, Sean (Crystal) Krompegel of Yorktown, Virginia; and grandchildren, Owen and Emma Puhl, Seamus, Kiera, and Deaglan Krompegel.
Per her request, there will be no calling hours or services at this time, but a celebration of her life will be held later this year.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel. Family and friends are invited to visit www.higgins-reardon.com to share memories and condolences.
