Marie Middleton Obituary

Marie Genevieve (Lohman) Middleton, 96 formally of Fernandina Beach, shed her earthly bonds peacefully on Wednesday, September 17th at Bailey's Community Hospice Center, St.  Augustine, FL.
Marie was born March 30, 1929, in Amelia City to the late Rudolph and Genevieve (Manucy) Lohman. She was born and raised on the bank of the Amelia River.  In her youth,, she had many adventures on the island like riding a swayback horse with her brothers for transportation and waiting patiently at the schoolhouse for her future husband to arrive on his bicycle to pick her up and take her to her home in Amelia City. She also delivered mail by horse and buggy and was a coastal watcher during WWII.  After graduating from Fernandina High School in 1947, she married her husband Richard G. (Bubba) Middleton, becoming a homemaker that loved gardening and fishing.  She and Bubba welcomed six children into their home.
Marie (Mema) was a faithful servant to the Lord at Five Points Baptist Church before moving to Dixie County, FL.  She was a Sunday School Teacher and worked tirelessly as a nursery worker.
Preceding her in death is her husband of 68 years, Richard G. (Bubba), eldest son, Ronald E. and her granddaughter, Leanna. She leaves behind her children-Doris Leary (Pat), Trenton, FL; Carol (Ron's wife), Columbus, GA; Tim (Pat), Fernandina Beach; Melonia Duncan (Pat), St. Augustine, FL; Claire Shepherd (Harold), Yulee, FL and Richard (Joyce)of Amelia City, FL, 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Mema May You Rest in Peace.
