Marie-Ange Oriol, of Baldwin, New York, passed away suddenly on January 23, 2023, after bravely battling lung cancer for 9 months, she was 73 years young.
Marie-Ange was born on July 26, 1949, to Gerard Michel and Claire Bossé, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In 1968, At the age of 19, she left her homeland and moved to the United States. Shortly, after her arrival in America, she was scouted by an agent who encouraged her to pursue a career in modeling. Although Marie-Ange loved the fashion world, she opted for a path in the banking industry, where she worked for over 25 years.
In 1979, at a friend's house, she met Claude, the love of her life, for them it was love at first sight. They married shortly after, and their union lasted until her passing. Together they raised three children and welcome 5 grandchildren. Marie-Ange was renowned for her exceptional cooking and always went above and beyond to prepare a person's favorite dish. She lived most of her life in New York and considered it her home, while maintaining her strong connection to her Haitian roots. She had a caring and loving heart and welcomed everyone with open arms. She was a great listener who provided comfort and solace while asking little in return.
Marie-Ange had a regal disposition and enjoyed a good party. The yearly New Year's Eve gala was her favorite event as it allowed her to combine her love of fashion and celebrate life with elegance.
She is survived by her husband Claude, Daughter Claudine, Sons John-Paul and Alexander, Daughter-in-law Shanta Oriol, Son-in-law Gilbert Hippolyte, Grand-children, Giovani, Soraya, Christian, Xander and Zyla. She is also survived by her sisters, Jacqueline Salako, Carole Bossé, Margareth Jean-Louis, Carline Jean-Louis and her brother Ronald Jean-Louis. She also leaves many other family members and dear friends.
Marie-Ange lived a dignified life, she was a model of a woman, an amazing friend, and a great wife. She will be remembered for her welcoming smile, her love for her children, grand-children, and devotion to her husband.
