It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marie K. Pierre, affectionately known as Ga Ga, sr. Pierre, Tati Grandma, Maraine, Ma-maire and Tati Gladys. Marie passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, in Orange, New Jersey, at the age of 63. A beloved and longtime resident of East Orange, she leaves behind a legacy defined by compassion, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and community.
Born on January 4, 1962, in Léogâne, Haiti, Marie was the cherished daughter of Carmen Millien and Cerilien Pierre. One of many siblings, she shared an unbreakable bond with her family that endured throughout her life. In 1995, Marie immigrated to the United States, seeking a better future and settling in New Jersey after a brief time in Providence. She embraced every challenge with strength and grace, building a life rooted in service to others.
Marie dedicated much of her life to caregiving, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in various nursing homes. Her gentle spirit and steadfast dedication brought comfort and dignity to those she served. Beyond her work in healthcare, Marie also ventured into entrepreneurship, opening a restaurant where she joyfully shared her love for Haitian cuisine with the local community. Her giving nature extended even further, opening her heart and home as a foster parent to children in need, offering them love, safety, and hope.
Marie is remembered with deep affection by her devoted siblings: Carline Pierre and her son (predeceased by a beloved niece), Rigaud Pierre and his four children, Rosette Pierre and her three children, Eddie Pierre and his child, Guilaine Pierre and her two children, Marie Richard and her four children, Ginette Pierre, Sherline Pierre and her three children, Neron Pierre, Cylvia Pierre and her three children, Jacob and his children.
She also leaves behind a vast extended family of cousins and loved ones-Lambert, Millien, Blasé, Villarson, Guillaume, Richard, Pierre, Henry, Duhaney, Séance, Jean, Rosemond, Athouriste, and Benglo-each of whom was touched by her unwavering love, strength, and generosity.
Marie's life was a testament to service, faith, and selfless love. Whether caring for patients, preparing meals for family and friends, or welcoming someone in need, she lived each day with purpose and heart. A devoted woman of faith, her presence brought light to all who knew her.
Though she will be deeply missed, Marie's spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched.
May she rest in eternal peace.
