Marie A. (Magrane) Thomas, 86, of Plainville, MA formerly of Mansfield, MA; passed away in the presence of her family on October 12, 2025, at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born in Boston, MA on January 30, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas J. Magrane and the late Mary B. (Monagle) Magrane, proud Irish immigrants.
Raised and educated in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of the City of Boston, she was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School - Class of 1957.
She had resided in Plainville for the past 36 years having moved to the community from Mansfield, MA.
Marie loved most in life the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and her granddaughter above all else.
She will be lovingly remembered for her great spirit, unwavering faith and her tenacity and spunk until Covid stopped her in her tracks.
She loved the holiday season, particularly Christmas and was an ardent New England Patriots fan. As a devoted grandmother, she attended all of her grandchildren's sporting and extracurricular activities and was even presented with an award for never missing a basketball game of her grandchildren.
Ms. Thomas was employed as a vocational instructor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Wrentham Developmental Center for many years prior to her retirement. Previously, she worked in group homes and was a devoted, enthusiastic volunteer at the Hebbronville Food Pantry where she was once recognized as the volunteer of the year.
She was a communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark in the Village of Attleboro Falls.
Times spent at the Plainville Senior Center and the North Attleboro YMCA were among her favorite pastimes.
For decades she and her family enjoyed their quaint cottage in Dennisport on Cape Cod where priceless memories of family and friends were create.
She leaves her children: Lynda M. (Wallace) Andres and her former husband, Jeffrey M. Andres, Sr. of Mansfield, MA; Lawrence K. Wallace, Jr. and his wife, Sheila (Knight) Wallace, of Taunton, MA and David A. Wallace of Plainville and his former wife, Julie (Binnoll) Wallace, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; her grandchildren: Jeffrey M. Andres, Jr., Jessica A. Wallace, Jacqueline M. Wallace, Jillian E. Wallace and Rebecca M. Wallace and her great granddaughter: Vivian R. Andres.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls,
North Attleboro, MA followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 pm.
Burial will follow in Shepardville Cemetery, Plainville, MA.
Following cemetery services, an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
