Marie J. Volentine, age 95, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 11, 2025, at Bethany Lutheran Home. Marie was born April 22, 1930, in Rutland, IA, to the late Mandius and Johanna (Torkelson) Hanson. She graduated from Bode High School in 1946. Marie married Donald G. Volentine on August 8, 1948, in Bode. They were blessed with six children. Marie was a secretary for her son, Dr. Gary Volentine's medical practice for many years. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Don in 2012; son, Timothy in 2008; grandson, Josiah in 2017, and 9 siblings. Marie is survived by her children, Dennis (Maggie) Volentine, Gary Volentine, M.D., Joel (Betty) Volentine, Dawn (Daniel) Howell, Suzi (Jeff) Brehmer; 24 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Karla Hanson and Mary Hanson; brother-in-law, Kenny Teeter; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday, 10 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 600 Bluff St. The interment will be at Garner Township Cemetery with a lunch following at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
