With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marie Elaine Wharton on January 9, 2025. Born on December 19, 1941, in Arlington, MA, Marie's vivacious spirit and love for life touched everyone she knew. A woman of many talents and passions, Marie's legacy is not just in the lives she touched but in the vibrant memories she leaves behind.
Marie was a dedicated legal secretary, who served her community in many ways. Her commitment to the town of Westminster was evident in her roles as a secretary for the planning board, the building inspectors, and the town census. But beyond her professional achievements, Marie was known for her love of life's simple pleasures. She found joy in the rhythm of a dance, the peace of a quiet fishing trip, and the satisfaction of knitting and crocheting intricate designs. She also held a special love for animals, her home was always filled with the happy chatter of birds, the purring of cats, and the wagging tails of dogs.
Marie is survived by her son Rick Wharton and his spouse Leora Jo, her longtime companion Dennis Goddu, her sister Salli and her spouse Arnold, her brother David Wiinikainen and his spouse Paula Sciabarrasi, her niece Staci Muzzioli and her spouse Keith, her nephew Gabriel, and 2 great nephews Nick and Alex. She is predeceased by her parents, Wilho and Eleanor Wiinikainen. Marie's indomitable spirit, her captivating laughter, and her tireless dedication to her community will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
