It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher John Knight, on August 20, 2025. He brought fun, generosity, and love into the lives of everyone who knew him. Born in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, on August 9, 1960, Christopher was a man of many passions and talents—but above all, he was a devoted Father and Papa.
For more than twenty-five years, Chris proudly owned and operated The Border Grille, Southside Grille, and Happy Jack’s restaurants, serving his community with joy, warmth, and great food. Just as he was the backbone of his restaurants, he was also the rock that his family constantly leaned on. Nothing brought him more happiness than his four daughters and grandchildren, who were truly the center of his life. He strengthened his family, leaving behind a lasting bond of love and support that will continue to guide them through the years.
Outside of family, Chris found happiness in dirt biking, classic cars, and the occasional soft twist ice cream. He could often be found cruising around in his Chevy Nova, Pink Floyd blasting, fully in his element.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Knight, his mother, Sharon Johnson, and his beloved wife, Patricia Knight.
He is survived by his four daughters: Victoria Honkala and her husband James, along with their sons Jackson and Carter; Montana Onacki and her husband Thomas, and their son Finley; Isabella Dupuis and her husband Brad with a new granddaughter on the way; and Gabriella Knight. He is also survived by his brothers Eric and Timothy Knight, along with many nieces and nephews. Though his absence is deeply felt, the memories he left behind will continue to bring us comfort.
Christopher’s life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, kindness, and dedication. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Please join us in celebrating his life on Thursday, August 28th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA.
