It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our our beloved Marietta (Rita) Fiste (nee Kidd). She passed away quietly in her home on February 3, 2024, surrounded by family.
Rita was born in Wedron IL to Marshall and Margaret (Hall) Kidd. She spent all of her younger years in Troy Grove, IL until she married in 1962. Then she enjoyed 44 years of marriage with her devoted husband, the late Donald Fiste, living in Earlville IL and the St. Louis area.
Cherished mother of Mary (Ronald) Hotchkiss and Diane (Michael) Thede; beloved grandmother of Alexander Hotchkiss, Tyler Hotchkiss, Meredith Hotchkiss, Emma (Samuel) Packer, and William Thede.
Beloved sister of Margaret (the late Harold) Prentice, Joyce (the late Peter) Newhalfen, and the late Marwood Kidd. Dear sister-in-law of Phyllis (the late Charles) Bickett and Dennis Fiste. Much-loved aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Rita loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing games and cards with friends, as well as the occasional trip to the casino. In her earlier years, Rita loved traveling around the United States and abroad with her husband; they also shared a life-long love of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed going to baseball games. Always willing to share her opinions, Rita's wit and amusing assessments of current events will be missed by those who knew her well.
Visitation, Monday, February 12, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church- Cottleville, 1355 Motherhead Road, St. Charles, MO 63304, 10:00 AM until time of MASS at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
