Marilis Forero Obituary

Marilis Forero, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on January 1, 1953, in Santiago, Cuba, Marilis lived a full and beautiful life marked by resilience, devotion, and deep compassion. She made her home in Germantown, Maryland, where she lived for the past 30 years, surrounded by the love of her family.

Marilis shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Alberto Forero. Together, they raised four children - Alexander, Daniel, Albert, and Angelica - who carry forward her example of patience, kindness, and unwavering love. She also cherished her grandchildren, Sophie, Gabriella, Isaac, Aliyah, Elia, and Aiden, whose lives were deeply enriched by her presence.

In 2002, Marilis was blessed to receive the gift of a heart transplant, a challenge she met with remarkable resilience and a strong will to live. She embraced the following two decades with gratitude, filling them with laughter, love, and memories that her family and friends will hold forever.

Marilis dedicated her career to serving others as a medical assistant and phlebotomist, where her gentle care and compassion brought comfort to many. Outside of her work, she found joy in painting landscapes, capturing the beauty of the world around her.

She will be remembered most for her good heartedness, her inviting nature, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Her warmth, happiness, and gentle spirit leave behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those she held dear.

A private funeral service will be held by the family on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Donations in her memory can be made to the National Foundation for Cancer Research (www.nfcr.org/?form=give-main)
