Marilyn Faye Arceneaux, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Grand Prairie. Burial will follow in the St. Peter’s Mausoleum with Father Tom Voorhies officiating services.

Marilyn Faye Arceneaux was born on Thursday, August 23, 1945 in Ville Platte, Louisiana. Faye had a strong faith and was a devout Catholic. Her mornings always started with saying the rosary, reading her prayer books, and drinking coffee. She liked to attend daily Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in “The Prairie” as often as she could, reflecting her deep spiritual conviction.

Faye had a profound appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors; you could always find her in her yard planting flowers, cutting the grass, feeding the birds and squirrels, or raking leaves. When she wasn’t outside, she liked to bake cakes and sweet treats for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking a meal for and spending time with her family on Sundays.

Faye was a natural caregiver, always tending to family, friends, and every animal around her. She enjoyed making trips to Forest Hill to buy plants and flowers with her neighbor and friend, Brian. Her best friend, Charlene, was very dear to her, and she always delighted in their lunch dates and visits.

Family was very important to Faye. She often spoke fondly about her parents and sister and the love they shared. Faye lived next door to her daughter, Pam, and son-in-law, Dane and looked forward to going over for daily visits. She was very active in the lives of her grandchildren, caring for them when they needed her and never missing a game or school event. She had a special place in her heart for her great grandchildren, and her cookie jar was always full when they stopped by for a visit.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Pam Fontenot (Dane); three grandchildren Nick Fontenot (April), Ashley Dufrene (Austin), and Madison LaTour (Drew); and her great grandchildren, Audrey Fontenot, Rhett Fontenot, Isaac Dufrene, Tate Dufrene, Eddie Dufrene, Aiden LaTour and two on the way. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her niece, Kelly Fontenot (Gerand) and nephew, Wendell Foret (Kristy).

Faye is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mabel Joubert Soileau; sister, Marie Foret; brother in law, Billy Foret; and nephew, Mitch Foret.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Monday, December 29, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by a rosary being recited at 1:00 PM.

As we remember Marilyn Faye Arceneaux, we celebrate a life dedicated to faith, family, and boundless love. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Sacred Heart School Foundation.
