Marilyn Bachmann-Johnson Passed away quietly at home with her husband, Ron at her bedside on December 13th, 2024. She was 88 Years old. Marilyn was born on October 22, 1936, in New York City to Karl and Bridget (O'Brien) Bachmann.
Born in NYC and Raised in Queens, New York. Her family moved to Bethlehem, Ct and she went to Watertown H.S. CT where she graduated. After high school she attended Katherine Gibbs school in NYC. From there she went on to work for the US Government in Washington in foreign service. Marilyn had a lengthy professional career, and in her early 20's, she pursued modeling and eventually became the first "Virginia Slims Girl" for the Eileen Ford agency. Later in life she would open her own modeling studio in Highland Park, New Jersey. Following a brief modelling career, Marilyn would become a saleswoman, account manager, and broker for multiple companies. Marilyn was proudly one of the First Female Brokers for Merril Lynch. She would then move on to working at the Xerox Corporation as an account manager. It was at Xerox where she met her loving husband, Ron. Her last employer was AT&T where she worked as an account manager until her retirement in 2004. Marilyn established herself as an exceptional employee and developed many lifelong relationships throughout her professional career.
Marilyn was a proud member of multiple notable organizations such as the National Women's Association of New York and on the Board of Auxiliary at Robert Wood Johnson. Marilyn is also recognized as one of the first Master Gardeners in the State of New Jersey.
One of her biggest goals in life was working to create equal rights for women in business and society.
Marilyn had many pastimes, but none were more enjoyable than ski trips with her husband Ron and son Jeffrey. On the weekends and holidays, Marilyn and her family would take trips to their Cabin in Stratton Vermont to ski and enjoy the beauty of the Green Mountains. Marilyn would also ski out west, making frequent trips to Utah to ski Alta and Snowbird. In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed the company of her friends and family on any occasion. She liked dancing, gardening, outdoor activities, and many sports. She had a favorite swing in the backyard where Ron and she enjoyed many good times and memories.
Marilyn is Predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Curran and brother Charles Bachmann.
Marilyn is Survived by her Loving Husband Ron and brother Tom Bachmann. She is also survived by multiple cousins, Nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday December 23rd, at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street Somerset New Jersey, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
