Marilyn L. Barr (nee Tucker), 90, of Wilton Township, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, Monday (March 6, 2023).
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Burton Barr; her daughters, Linda (Joseph Zdziarski) Barr and Lori (Pete) Slattery; her grandchildren, Kaylin (Sam) Barnes, Jake Slattery, Cheryl (Jon) Allen and John Zdziarski; her great-grandchildren, Ellie, Emily and Ethan Allen; her sisters-in-law, Marian Krapf and Nance Tucker; her special cousin, Tamra (Warren) Piper; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and bonus grandchildren, Cori Kassib and Cameron Martin.
Preceding her in death were her parents, J. William and Idabelle (nee Dole) Tucker; her son, Kevin Barr (in 1977); her brother, Tom Tucker; and her brother-in-law, Wayne Krapf.
Marilyn was a graduate of Peotone High School; and was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Manhattan.
She was an avid reader and Duke fan and she enjoyed her monthly card club with her closest friends. Marilyn learned the demands of being a farm wife, making countless meals over the years and supporting her husband and family during the long hours of planting and harvesting.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The Barr family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, Minjee, Cindy and Lisa, who provided immeasurable support to Marilyn and the entire family these past 13 months.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Wilton Cemetery, Wilton Center.
