Marilyn J. Beimer, 100, of Richland, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Meilland Square Memory Care in Kalamazoo. She was born June 30, 1925, in Allegan, Michigan, the daughter of Leon Shimmons and LaVern (Wynne) Shimmons. Marilyn was a dedicated wife and mother to her husband, Carl, and their children, Gary and Jim. She was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother to her three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Marilyn was an excellent cook and was known for her manicotti, spaghetti and lasagna, which she often made all at the same time, even in July. She made pumpkin pie for Jim and banana cream pie for Gary, who got to enjoy the entire pie because no one else liked it. She and Carl enjoyed boating, spending time with the kids on Lake Michigan, taking trips to Ludington and Torch Lake and vacationing in Florida, Texas and Arizona to escape the winter weather with Carl. In addition to taking care of her family, Marilyn was employed by the Kalamazoo Child Guidance Clinic, retiring after 26 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Cheryl) Beimer and James (Miriam) Beimer both of Richland; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Jane) Beimer, Chad (Stacy) Beimer, Katelyn (Grant) Segur; and five great-grandchildren, Paige Beimer, Mara Beimer, Hazel Segur, James Beimer, Max Segur; along with many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, brother, Daryl Shimmons, and sisters Yvonne Davis and Leone Ford.
