Marilyn Ann Brown (née Brown), age 94, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, surrounded by family and love. She is survived by Harry Francis Brown, her beloved husband of 72 years.
Born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Glenview, Illinois, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Otto and Ann Brown. She was one of three children and was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Brown. She is survived by her dear sister, Paula Hanns (nee Brown).
Marilyn married the love of her life, Harry Brown, on July 25, 1953. Together, they built a beautiful life, settling in Wauconda in 1958, where they raised their five children.
After raising her family, Marilyn worked as a first grade teacher at Robert Crown Elementary School in Wauconda for 20 years. After retirement she volunteered in the Wauconda school system for many years.
Marilyn was devoted to the Catholic faith and a longtime parishioner of Transfiguration Church. Her faith guided her in how she loved, served, and cared for those around her.
She was a devoted mother to and survived by James (Joanne) Brown, Kathleen (Russell) Altersohn, Thomas (Margaret) Brown, Patricia (Robert) Hackbart, and Colleen Brown.
Proud grandmother to 16 and great-grandmother to 15, Marilyn was the heart of a large and loving family.
Marilyn enjoyed many years as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Wauconda. She spent many years going to masters track meets to watch her husband Harry compete throughout the United States and internationally, traveling to many countries throughout the world. Marilyn was an avid reader of novels. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends immensely.
